Mt Pelee 2-1-07 the final page

_On April 23 the mountain caused a light rain of cinders on its southern and western side, together with sharp underground shocks._On April 25, the mountain emitted a large cloud containing rocks and ashes from its top, where the Étang Sec - a dry basin - was located. The ejected material did not cause a meaningful amount of damage._On April 26, the area was dusted by volcanic ash from a next eruption; the public authorities still did not see a reason to worry._On April 27, several excursionists climbed the mountaintop to find Etang Sec filled with water, forming a lake 180 meters across. There was a 15 meter high cone of volcanic debris built up on one side, feeding the lake with a steady stream of boiling water. Sounds resembling a cauldron with boiling water were heard from deep underground. The strong smell of sulfur was all over the city, 4 miles away from the volcano, causing discomfort to people and horses._On April 30, the rivers Roxelane and Riviere des Peres swelled, carrying boulders and trees from the mountaintop. The villages of Precheir and Ste. Philomene were receiving a steady stream of ashes. We are finally done with our project it was nice of Freshie to show up after all the work was done thanks buddy

Mt Pelee 1-31-07

Today we have finished our project after a long and hard working couple weeks we have finally finished. We learned that Mt. Pelee was the deadliest volacano acidnet ever. The start from beginning to finish of the valcanoe lasted about five days. It started blowing out smoke and then ash and hot rock. Finally by the 8th of March 1902 it exploded with flowing rivers of liquid hot magma. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and could someday erupt again. I just wanted to say also that Freshie was not here today and did no work.

Earthquakes 1-26-07

Today in global science we watched a video on earth quakes. Earth quakes are cause by tention in the ground when plates collide and that tention builds up to immense amounts of tension and pressure. When that pressure becomse so great the two plates that have collided snap and break apart and release all that energy. when that energy is released it releases great amounts of energy in waves and the waves break apart the ground and destroy citys and homes and towns and just anywhere where those waves can reach to. Sometimes when the plates collide one can get stuck under nieth the other and they can cause the earth to rize and create great tension as well. Earth quakes are unpredictable and can not be determined for any day or anytime. These things are very scary because they are so unpredictable and create so much damage to areas. The plates that collide are broken into 12 pieces all over the globe.

Mt. Pelee 1-25-07

It is the second day of our Mt. Pelee project. Today we learned alot of interesting facts about Mt. Pelee. Back in 1902 the great Mt. Pelee erupted and made flowing rivers of magma it approximatley killed a little over 29,00 people. It destroyed the town of St. Pierre. This is the largest casualties caused by a valcanic eruptiont to happen in this century. Mt. Pelee, a stratovolcano made mostly of pyroclastic rocks is on the north end of the island of Martinique. Martinique is part of the Lesser Antilles volcanic arc. The arc is formed by the subduction of the North American Plate under the Caribbean Plate. A sight you can go to and find out more interesting facts to look at would be http://csf.colorado.edu/psn/marx/other/Luxemburg/Archive/1902-mar.htm

Mt Pele 1-23-07

Today in Global Science we picked a topic for our project. Eric, Freshie, and I chose Mt. Pele we are very excited to get started on this project. It will be alot of work but we look forward to this complicated task. The event of Mt. Pele happend in 1902 other then that right now I have no other information but here is a website for some viewing pleasure and exciting information. You can go to http://Volcano.und.nodak.edu. This site will show loads of information on this wonderful and exciting volcano and show you fun stuff and interesting facts about im really excited.
