Earthquakes 1-26-07

Today in global science we watched a video on earth quakes. Earth quakes are cause by tention in the ground when plates collide and that tention builds up to immense amounts of tension and pressure. When that pressure becomse so great the two plates that have collided snap and break apart and release all that energy. when that energy is released it releases great amounts of energy in waves and the waves break apart the ground and destroy citys and homes and towns and just anywhere where those waves can reach to. Sometimes when the plates collide one can get stuck under nieth the other and they can cause the earth to rize and create great tension as well. Earth quakes are unpredictable and can not be determined for any day or anytime. These things are very scary because they are so unpredictable and create so much damage to areas. The plates that collide are broken into 12 pieces all over the globe.
